Once the day's programme ends, choose where to dine, take a stroll or relax independently. Palermo's sightseeing day also leaves the afternoon free; the 8 and 10-day journeys include a free afternoon after the Siracusa tour.
Airport transfers, scheduled transport and the specific visits and tastings listed for your itinerary are organised for you.
Some touring and transfer days last around 8–9.5 hours. Free time starts after the scheduled services; a free afternoon is not promised every day. Each itinerary includes a full day at leisure in Taormina.

Discover Palermo and Monreale, explore Erice and Marsala, cross the island via the Valley of the Temples and enjoy an Etna 4x4 experience — with a full day to enjoy Taormina independently.
Good fit: Travellers wanting western Sicily, Etna and Taormina with only one change of overnight base.

Starts every Sunday & Wednesday
Combine western Sicily and the Valley of the Temples with Siracusa, Ortigia and the Baroque towns of Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Noto, finishing with time at leisure in Taormina.
Good fit: Travellers prioritising archaeology and the southeast's Baroque towns. Etna is optional at extra cost, not included.

Starts every Thursday & Sunday
Start with Taormina and Etna, travel west via Cefalù to Palermo, then continue through Agrigento to Siracusa and the Baroque southeast.
Good fit: Travellers wanting the broadest combination of the experiences offered across these three routes.

Flights; accommodation and breakfasts in the ground-only option; hotel city taxes; dinners and all meals or drinks not specifically listed; site admissions other than the Valley of the Temples package; optional experiences; tips; porterage/luggage handling; travel insurance; and any service not expressly confirmed in your quotation.
The Palermo walking tour ends at Piazza Verdi and does not include a return transfer to your hotel. No Etna summit ascent or cable-car ticket is promised in these itineraries.
English-speaking drivers are included on the specified road touring days. Airport transfer drivers are Italian-speaking; the Etna 4x4 programme specifies a driver with basic English. Licensed local guides are included for Palermo/Monreale and, in the 8 and 10-day itineraries, Siracusa/Ortigia. Other visits are independent or audio-guided as stated.
This is not a continuously escorted tour with a licensed guide throughout.
Why book a tour without hotels?
You can book the organised ground services without being tied to a specific hotel package. Choose a boutique hotel, a welcoming B&B or another suitable stay in the scheduled overnight bases, according to your preferences and accommodation budget. Your shared touring arrangements remain organised by Tour of Sicily.

Practical note
Your accommodation must fit the route, overnight schedule and pickup areas. Please share the property names with us before making non-refundable reservations. Pedestrian streets and restricted traffic zones may require meeting at a nearby accessible point. Staying outside the operating area can require different arrangements and an additional quotation. Choosing your own hotel does not allow changes to the shared tour's daily route or departure times.
